Newcastle United footballer Bruno Guimaraes was delighted when he exchanged his team jersey for an unusual gift from a supporter after the 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Wednesday (31/1/2024). The gift turned out to be a Kinder Joy variant of Kinder Bueno.
Goals for Newcastle were scored by Fabian Schar’s brace (32′, 36′) and Alex Moreno’s suicide (52′). Meanwhile, Villa replied once through Ollie Watkins’ goal (71′).
A tight duel occurred since referee John Brooks blew the whistle. No wonder the first chance was created in the 20th minute when Anthony Gordon’s shot was saved by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. A moment later, Alexander Isak’s chance was narrowly sideways.
Aston Villa’s best chance was recorded in the fourth minute of first half injury time. Unfortunately, John McGinn’s shot from very close range, went over! Newcastle took a 2-0 lead over The Villans at the break.
This victory is indeed worth celebrating by Newcastle and Guimaraes because it marks the end of the period of defeat they experienced in the previous four matches in the Premier League 2023/2024. Guimaraes also did a celebration that was quite unique.
In a video released by Newcastle’s X account, Guimaraes walks towards the Villa Park pitch tunnel, and is then called by one of the fans. Guimaraes then took off his jersey and was about to give it to the person.
An Exciting Two Years
In return, the fan gave two boxes of Kinder Bueno to Guimaraes, who exclaimed with delight. “Yeah!” said the 26-year-old, who has played 89 games and scored 11 goals for Newcastle.
After the match, he took to social media to express his delight at the win. “Two happy years with this team, with a very important win! Thank you for everything, @NUFC fans. I’m happy to be here!” he wrote.
